The Springs owned by a family member is still in operation today.

Mother is going to The Springs for a rest and visit. Ethel, Floyd, Mother and I went to the city. 12 o'clock train broke down (the motor car) and they had to get an engine to haul it in so we didn't get there until 3 P.M. Watched a Co. take movies in the S.P. station.

This film was a huge success though extremely controversial for it's racial depictions.
It is widely acknowledge, then and now, to have inspired the rebirth of the KKK.

We took Santa Fe 12 o'clock train home - everyday is moderately warm and fine.

Sun. Aug. 15, 1915

Did not go to church. Grandpa had a falling out with Harners while we were away and says he will not have anything more to do with them, so when we went to Newport in the afternoon we did not take them along. Ethel drove there and I drove home. Wrote a card to Mother and took it down to mail.
