Warm and ideal
Woke up at Calgary. Am in the mountains now, about 7:30 or so. Looked at the scenery all day.Had our own breakfast. In aft. I stood on the platform with one of the 3 sisters - Lillian Gregg. She is one of the ones that we played 500 with last night, and we talked. Took picture etc along the way. In the eve - Bert Kent "The fellow" (lived in Mnpls 19 yrs) and I sat down with Lillian Gregg and her sister and we sang songs - Others in the car joined in and I rattled my bones some. We 4 talked until about 10 and then went to bed.

Seattle train station around 1915 |
Fine, warm and ideal
Got up about 5 and looked at scenery along Fraser River. Got to junction about 8 A.M and left the girls there as they go to Vancouver. Lillian, by the way, lives in Wianton, Ontario. Mother, myself and Bert Kent are the only ones in the car going to Seattle. Had breakfast in the diner. Arr. in Seattle 2:30 or so, checked luggage, went to C.P.R. offices to try to get our ticket to read to Anaheim instead of San Pedro, but could not. Went up on the tower of the 42 story bldg. (25 cents) and looked all over - back to depot and made reservations for night train to Portland, uptown with Mother, bought 2 collars. Had supper in a cafeteria, sat around in depot - On train about 9:30 to bed 10:30. I got a lower berth as they both cost $1 between Seattle and Portland.

Portland train station around 1915 |
Slept like a log last night. Into Portland at 7:30 and I didn't wake up until 7 A.M.. Took a bus to the other depot from which we take the steamer train. Took a jitney uptown and got breakfast. Took steamer train 9:30 and got to the boat Northern Pacific at 1 P.M. Fine boat alright. Nice little cabin. went to dinning room and we had lunch. As we were finishing the boat was getting into the open sea and started to roll a little. Went up on deck and the boat was rolling quite a bit. First as the boat went down, you felt as if you were walking on air and then when it came up the floor felt hard as a rock. I was surprised as I did not think such a large boat would rock at all. In about 5 minutes my lunch went over the rail. I soon got my sea legs, but was pretty dizzy so I went down to our room and went to sleep on the Sopha and didn't wake up until way in the night. Then undressed and went to bed and slept until the bugle woke me at 7 A.M. Bad storm last night they said, but we are running with it so it did not bother us.
